It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

In light of the upcoming changes to the Old World, I’m setting out to finish up the Wallpaper project.  You can see what I’ve done so far here.

If anyone has suggestions of particularly picturesque places for me to use, please let me know.  I’d like this to be a good tour of all the places that make Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland, and Northrend particularly beautiful, so I’m happy to head out to any spot on any continent!

Leave your suggestions or places you’d like to see in the comments, and I’ll post again when I upload another batch!

  1. Great pics. I’ve always thought the view looking out to sea from Auderdine, on the shore just in front of the platform with the FP on it, with the bridge sprawled along the water to the right was pretty amazing. I can almost smell the briny seawater.

  2. I’ve always loved the view down on to Menethil Harbour…. I have one somewhere on me and my husband’s characters when we were new and level 20 something …. hmmm… let me see…

Here we are… (on my Rogue, Lorienne in the days before I discovered priesting) … http://i33.tinypic.com/2dl0v8k.jpg, only maybe with a better resolution. Oh – I just noticed it’s got my first pet on too – my silver tabby. I’ve always wanted one IRL and was so happy to find that one.

  3. I’ve found Nagrand to be fairly picturesque (sp?). Especially around the Throne of Elements.

What about inside instances? I had some really nice ones from Wailing Caverns, Ahn’Kahet, and such. Unfortunately my computer died recently and I lost them. :*(

  5. Oh I do the same 🙂 Been taking pics of Annael for years as she’s grown up.

    Ones I like are

The Lighthouse in Westfall at dusk…
The goblin station in Desolace with the caravan arriving (you can bet that place will flood)
    The infamous IF airport
The Great Tree in Mount Hyjal

also I like to take pics of Annael in these places (kinda holiday snaps lol)

  6. I’ve always been especially fond of the Throne room for Undercity. Granted that could easily be because of the lore behind it. I have more screenshots of that room than I care to admit to.

  7. Not sure if this is worth capturing but the view of the Scarlet Cathedral in Scarlet Monastery. I always let out a slight geeky giggle when I saw it. It won’t be effected by Cataclysm (I don’t think) but still could be an incredible good looking picture/wallpaper.

  8. I’ve always liked darkshore in the night time. The way the light hits the coast is just very cool.

  9. I would love to see all these pics available as a download in a zip file or something. I’ve thought about all the pretty things we’ll lose when then Cataclysm hits and it does make a part of me sad. Great idea thinking of this!

I hope more folks contribute to this (just scenery of the worlds/instances) and we can keep it to share when its no longer available. Thank you!

  13. How about inside the instances Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep? They probably will not be different after the expansion, but you never know.

  15. Azshara! Just go crazy with Azshara. To me, it’s the most beautiful zone in the game, and I have no idea what those crazy goblins will do with it.

  16. Might this be inspiration for Nagrand?

  17. I agree with Sarai – If you’re going to do one of Nagrand the Throne of Elements is a great place.

  18. Just FYI – There are plans to have these all available as a single download .zip file in the future. Just be patient – taking the screenshots takes a good bit of time, not to mention editing them all into wallpapers!

  19. I am going to start a similar project. I will be doing high resolution movies from all the flightpaths I can, both Alliance and Hoard. Many of the paths change depending on which start and end points are chosen and it may take a while (and some coin!) to do it right. I will post results when I can.

  20. Shade of Akama event in Black Temple. Though I doubt it’ll be changing with the expansion. It’s still so pretty.

  21. I’ve been making panoramas of WoW zones for quite sometime now, and I just heard about your project and would love to help. So please get back to me if you’d like to chat about this. 🙂
