It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

For my own use as much as anyone else’s:

Wookieepedia – Star Wars Lore Database. Enormous, but good for getting answers to lore questions. Also good for sucking up your afternoon without you noticing.

SWTOR Wikia – Star Wars: The Old Republic wiki – specific to the game and game environment/lore.

TORHead – Growing database of missions and mission items.

SithWarrior.com – forum of discussion about class mechanics, specs, and strategy

Jedi Tank – discussion of class mechanics, particularly tanking and healing

SWTOR Crew Skills – just what it says. Crew Skills information and skill leveling guides

SWTOR Life – news and guides. Good blog about RP specifically. Especially the post about setting game preferences for RP.

True Galaxies SWTOR Guides – particularly their companion guides

SWTOR Strategies – news website with lore and strategy information, as well as game updates

SWTOR Hub – news website with new player, lore, and other info, game updates, skill calculator

And a couple of blogs I’m enjoying that cover SWTOR and related info: Inquisitor’s Roadhouse –  A New Dope All for the WookieeHawtpants of the Old Republic

I’m sure as the game solidifies, some of these sites will disappear and new ones will appear, but for now these are the websites I’m using to keep up with new stuff in SWTOR. And to look up answers to my eleventy billion questions, since this is a relatively new lore environment for me.

What other websites (including blogs, which I don’t have many of yet) should I be reading?

  1. Without wanting to blow my own trumpet, you might find some interesting stuff here: http://www.manaobscura.com/swtor-resource-list/

In particular, for RP, these might be helpful:

Hope this is useful to you!

  2. @Gazimoff – excellent! Thank you!

So far it’s been mostly dryish guides, but as I settle in I’m hoping it’ll grow as Banana Shoulders did.

They’ve got news, guides, opinions, etc. I think it will probably be around for the long haul.

  5. Bioware did a lot of things right and innovative in this game, and they also left out some pretty basic stuff at launch. I think they were so concerned with voice acting the entire game to make it unique they forgot about some of the other “basic” things a game needs like guild banks, UI customization and group finders.

Patch 1.2 is going to fix some of these things but the real problem now is too many servers, not enough people. The game was such a phenomenal hit at launch that server que’s were sometimes hours long. The developers panicked. Instead of letting the game find it’s way (most MMO’s have a huge amount of people who signup the first month to try it and then leave), they opened up dozens of new servers. Well now that the population has thinned out, many of these servers are ghost towns with few players on at any given time. This does not lend itself well to the MMO feeling.

Bioware need to either merge low population servers or let people server transfer their characters to more populated servers if they choose. Right now, the only option available to players on these empty servers is to leave behind the characters they may have spent hundreds of hours leveling, and start over.

But people also need to realize the game is still in it’s infancy. It will improve, and I firmly believe it will eventually supplant World of Warcraft as the top MMO out there.
