It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

Once upon a raid night dreary, while I wandered weak and weary,
Over many a long and tedious hall of trash pull bore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my speakers core.
“Tis the raid leader,” I muttered, “tapping at my speaker’s core –
Only this, and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak November,
At each wipe the dying members wrought their bones upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow, – Vainly I had sought to borrow
From the future download’s sorrow – borrow an expansion code and more.
For the rare and radiant future as the dev team teased and swore.
Nameless here forever more.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of my dreamy curtain
Shocked me – filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“Tis the raid leader entreating that I wake up and pull behind this door.
Just the raid leader entreating that I wake and pull behind this door,
That it is, and nothing more.”

Presently my waking stronger, hesitating then no longer,
“Sir”, said I, “I’m sorry, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly was your tapping, tapping at my speaker’s core
That you scarce were sure to wake me’ – here I peeked around the door –
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing
Doubting how they’d managed to dispatch a monster ne’er seen before
And the silence was then broken, though the darkness gave no token
But many laughing words there spoken “Dude, you know you snore?”
This they howled, and an echo murmured back “You know you snore?”
Merely this, and nothing more.

`Guys!’ said I, `that isn’t funny – working 2 jobs to make some money –
Writing a thesis, and I haven’t slept in three days – maybe more,
Desolate my eyelids hooded, in this desert land undaunted-
In this home by ramen haunted – tell me truly, I implore –
Is there perhaps another hunter? – tell me – I am just not that hardcore!’
Quoth the leader, `Nevermore.’

Then, I thought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
As the smell of fire and brimstone rose up from the lava core.
“Alright,” I cried, “I’ll pull this for you – it’s the last pull here before you
Then a respite from these horrid nights of raiding Molten Core
Ah a sweet, sweet respite from these nights in Molten Core.
Quoth the leader, “Nevermore.”

Then we sat engaged in guessing, many syllables expressing
To the new guy who replaced a tank that left ’cause raiding was a chore.
This and more we sat defining, until the Fire Lord, then reclining
Was awoken from his lining underneath that fiery core
Flaming he rose up from his lining underneath that fiery core.
Quoth the Fire Lord, “Nevermore!”

Once upon a raid night dreary, fingers weak and eyesight bleary
Chain pulling through yet another night of Molten Core,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my speakers core.
“Let him tap,” I muttered, “For I have another hunter and I will pull no more –
Quoth the raider, “Nevermore.”

Obviously, all actual poetic credit goes to Edgar Allen Poe, this being a spoof of his poem ‘The Raven’. Also, credit to Matticus, for coming up with the idea, and Grizz, for helping me polish it.
