Bad things are happening in Stormwind – and beyond.

The Hand of Lothar, they call themselves.

Yva Darrows was their first target.

Tirith and Aely were their second and third.

They have since… expanded their reach and escalated their methods …

RP Friday Five – What Dreams May Come

Here are five questions to think about with your character – they can be answered here as comments, turned into a blog post of your own, or just something to think about while you grind away leveling over the weekend.  This week we’re tackling skills and abilities.

You’ll find something like this every Friday here at Too Many Annas – and my answers are under the “read more” tag.

Dream Bough in Ferelas

  1. Describe your character’s sleep habits.  Do they eat breakfast or have other routines?
  2. What do they dream about at night, if anything?
  3. Is your character a night owl or a morning songbird?
  4. What do they wear to sleep?
  5. Is your character ticklish?

And now for the many Annas…

  1. Angoleth sleeps like you’d expect of a hunter used to being in the wilds – lightly, and frequently at odd hours.   She usually eats a little something for breakfast, but not too much.  Aelflaed sleeps relatively lightly as well, though she falls back asleep easily.  She likes her sleep to be regular (at least in the “every night for a few hours” sense).  Aely also requires coffee in the mornings to wake up.
  2. Annorah‘s dreams are usually filled with fire – but not in a nightmare sense.  She’s used to having Fire around, and so having him there in dreams (much like having Water in her dreams, which is also frequent) is more of a comforting thing.  Angoleth rarely remembers her dreams, but she’s trained herself not to.  Aelflaed dreams of home, and of the four is the most likely to talk in her sleep.
  3. Annorah and Annalira are both late sleepers and night owls.  Angoleth and Aelflaed are both early to bed and early to rise.  (Aely says I have to add: Unless Phileas promises a lazy morning and breakfast.)
  4. Annalira wears nightgowns, usually pretty ones.  Aely sleeps in a soft old shirt and some knee-length linen pants most of the time.
  5. They all are ticklish, but Annalira is probably the only one that’d admit it openly.  Of the four, Annorah is the least so, and Annalira or Aelflaed the most.

  5. Here we are – the lovely writings of my little girl… I’ve blanked out her name to protect her identity – don’t want strangers talking to her online.

1.Well, first mine eats two biscuits(invisible biscuits, for evasion). Then she goes to a safe city. And goes in one of the houses and lays in bed(and of course sleeps).
2.First she gets up, has some cereal, then lays back and relaxes while she watches some TV.
3.No,she doesn’t dream of anything really.Well ok on Christmas day she dreams of being lvl 70.
4.Well, some days each some days all C**** wants to do is FIGHT!And some days she is a middle, song owl.
    5.C**** wears her p-jays(pajamas).
6.If she is angry she (SMACKS),people out of her way.But other wise she’s ok.

  6. Sephrenia – You have a wonderful little girl! I’m very glad that you shared that with us (and that you’re looking out for her online) – that’s easily within the top 10 comments I’ve ever gotten. I hope she continues to enjoy thinking about her character and writing her blog!

  8. Dorri

    1) Dorri is a pretty light sleeper and she’s nearly always been a creature of habit. She’s got a lot of ritual type things she likes to do before going to sleep. Well she did but since she’s now sharing living space and a bed with Keltyr, she’s adjusted to some of his habits, one of which is morning coffee. And he’s had to deal with her insistence for bathing every night.
    2) If Dorri dreams, she doesn’t remember. You would have to ask Keltyr.
    3) She’s neither. She’s awake when she’s awake and asleep when she’s asleep.
    4) Nothing
    5) I honestly don’t know. And if anyone tried to tickle her, she’s punch them anyway.

    Then’liath
    1) Then is a pretty deep sleeper. As long as Destril hasn’t gone and tried to save the world (and gotten himself injured because of it), they have breakfast and tea together. Depending on who wakes up first, it’s either take out or home cooked. Then can’t cook.
    2) Then dreams of Silvermoon.
    3) She and Destril are also early risers.
    4) She wears a silken shift.
    5) She is… If Destril reads this, she’s likely to get tickled in public.

  9. Oh, you think Des doesn’t know she’s ticklish? You fool! Ha ha!

    But seriously…here’s Des and Dandy’s.

    Destril
    1. I think Des probably sleeps like I do…which is not necessarily well. Sometimes he’s just awake for no good reason and can’t get back to sleep. This would be why he, like Phileas, is fond of catnaps.

    2. Des probably dreams about any number of random things, but Then’liath is definitely high on that list. *evil grin*

    3. Des is so very not a morning person. He by far prefers sleepy rainy days where he knows there’s nowhere to be in a hurry and can drowse back off if he so desires.

    4. I’d say a good three-quarters of the time, he doesn’t. Since the bear cub has started cold-nosing him in the small of the back in search of a 4 AM bottle, however, I have a feeling some sort of pajamas have been found just so he can get some sleep.

    5. Ask Then…I’m sure she knows that he is. *grin*

    Dandill:
    1. Dandy sleeps when his body is on the verge of collapse. Since he thinks of himself as more-or-less dead, he tends to ignore the normal request for sleep on a daily basis his body makes. Even then, when he sleeps, it’s likely for only a few hours. No, he doesn’t exactly take good care of himself, as that’s about how often he eats as well…when he remembers to.

    2. I don’t think Dandy dreams, per se. Instead of dreams, I think that’s when he tends to get the best recovery of his lost memories, when they decide to resurface.

    3. I think Dandy’s more of a morning person…being an ex-paladin, he’s used to having things to do first thing in the morning, and has continued the habit now that he’s a death knight, even if it’s just running a weapons drill to warm up.

    4. Since he usually rooms with Drusi, Dandy wears a soft shirt and trousers to bed for decency’s sake.

    5. You know? For Dandy, I’m not sure. He might be, he might not be. We’ll have to see if he learns to trust anyone enough to let them find out.

  10. I’m trying to figure some of these out for Rirri – here’s what I have so far
    1. Rirri keeps regular hours, because she seems to remember that’s how she used to do things. She doesn’t actually sleep much, but she does rest, or read, or stare randomly off into space.
    2. She doesn’t really dream, mostly because she’s afraid of losing control of her mind again. So she rarely falls into a deep enough sleep to dream.
    3. Not really either.
    4. Whatever’s around and comfortable, probably whatever she wears under her armor.
    5. Probably, but I doubt she’d let anyone close enough to do so. She’s friendly enough, but doesn’t take well to being startled like that.

  11. 1. Khol sleeps when he gets tired and can afford to rest. This can often be at odd hours and commonly occurs after being awake for far longer than he really wants to be, which tends to be an occupational hazard. He does have several routines, depending on where he is and what he is doing at the time, but as far as normal, off the clock life, he’s been known to have a cup of tea or a mug of beer before bed, depending on which he remembered to stock up on.

    2. Khol’s dreams seldom make a lasting enough impression on him to be remembered upon waking. When he does remember his dreams they are pretty normal, walking around with no pants, the gorgeous new redheaded waitress down at the Sign of the White Mountain, running very slowly away from a big, scary monster. Very garden-variety sorts of things, though there was that one dream about the fishing net that encircled the world…

    3. Due to the nature of his work, Khol is very much a nightowl. Or maybe he’s a nightowl because of his work. Either way, he’s more awake and alert at night. Unlike most night people, though, Khol isn’t especially irascible or grouchy in the morning, unless he hasn’t gotten much sleep, but that’s more to do with not getting enough sleep rather than simply what time of day it is.

    4. Again, it largely depends on where he is and what he’s doing. He’s spent many nights in his armour before, though he tries to avoid that sort of thing if he can. When he’s off the clock, he has a set of very well-made linen sleep clothes he sleeps in. In the past, he would sleep in just his breechclout, but a few narrow escapes that put him outside in the middle of the night in the dead of winter have taught him the error of those ways.

    5. Many have tried to find out, all but one have failed and Khol isn’t telling who found out or where he is ticklish.

  12. 1. The closest thing Rashona has to a habit is meditating for a few minutes before she sleep, focusing on her responsibilities as a druid.

    2. Normal everyday nonsensical dreams, for the most part. Rashona wouldn’t know angst if it bit her on the butt.

    3. Neither, actually. Barring an immediate emergency, she goes to sleep when she’s tired and wakes up when she’s rested. The longer she stays on four legs, the more nocturnal she gets, but thus far it hasn’t been a problem.

    4. Fur. Or occasionally feathers. She rarely bothers with inns or houses, instead taking whatever shape is appropriate and safe when she decides she needs to sleep. (Including occasional nights spent at the bottom of a handy lake.) In Outlands, she tended to roost in a convenient tree; lately in Northrend, she takes bear form and finds a nook out of the wind.

    5. Hell yes. But I doubt there’s going to be any opportunity to find out. :-)

  13. 1. Describe your character’s sleep habits. Do they eat breakfast or have other routines?

Tarquin is what you might call an unhealthy sleeper, with an unfortunate tendency to go for long periods on minimal sleep and then crash for half a day. Most mornings he’ll be awake and moving very quickly, feeling vaguely guilty about wasting time on something as silly as sleep when he could be out making money or winning a war. When he’s crashed (or drank enough), it’s like waking the dead, with dire consequences for those who do so.

    2. What do they dream about at night, if anything?

Very little. Tarquin’s paranoid imagination thankfully tends to desert him at night, and he rarely remembers his dreams. He has a hard enough time with his wife’s.

    3. Is your character a night owl or a morning songbird?

Night owl by far. Which isn’t to say that he sleeps through the day; just that most of the interesting things in Azeroth tend to happen in the evening and night-time, and Tarq is all about being there for anything interesting (and profitable.)

    4. What do they wear to sleep?

Usually Tarquin runs under the assumption that someone might try to kill him at any time, and he’d rather not have to fight for his life naked; hence, light linen trousers and maybe a shabby tunic if it’s cold. If he feels secure, then all he wears is a nelf. (If they’re tangled up, she can’t steal his blankets.)

    5. Is your character ticklish?

Not particularly, no. Or is he bluffing?

  15. Hey Anna, ok you inspired me, ever since having dinner with you and wyn at pei wei i’ve been looking at my characters in a more “rpish” light, so I will attempt.

(be gentle, first time writing about my characters this way)

    1. Cherlas is an early to bed, early to rise kind of girl. She likes to get up early and cook and fish before it gets too crowded, although she’s pretty girly and the fishing bothers her she does it to get the job done since noone else wants to. Craezie likes to sleep in and stay out late, she loves her friends and meeting new people which always ends in later than intended nights of goofing off or monster-slaying, she also loves brunch and getting up later makes brunch so much better. Cambri is a bit more finnicky, it depends on what she did that day and if she’s tired or not, she sleeps when she feels like it and wakes up when she feels like it, no real routine with her at all.

    2. Cherlas has nightmares all the time, the blue dragonflight seem to be infilitrating her world all over the place and this frightens her quite a bit. Craezie doesn’t dream, at least she never remembers them. Cambri has confusing dreams, she’s still trying to see where she fits in this world since “the crash”.

    3. see 1

    4. Cherlas wears frilly things, she loves to be girly. Craezie falls asleep in whatever she wore the night before, party hard sleep harder.

    5. They are all ticklish, very!

  17. Now see, Then always assumed he was a morning person because when he’s injured or sick he always gripes about not getting up in time to retrieve breakfast.

    The truth comes out!

  18. 1. Kaled tends to fall asleep and stay asleep, unless woken up by someone else. Khaotic is more of a light sleeper, and will wake at pretty much any disturbance. They both typically wake up at daybreak, though Kaled can’t really be considered human til he’s had breakfast.
    2. Kaled only remembers some of his dreams, and those tend to fade rather quickly. Khaotic doesn’t dream much, when she does it’s usually about the battles she’s seen.
    3. Khaotic is a morning person, she’s usually alert and ready to go as soon as she gets up. Kaled is something of a zombie until he gets some tea or coffee and some food.
    4. At home Kaled wears light linen trousers, Khaotic wears an oversize shirt, if they’re wearing anything. Out on the road they usually sleep in most of their armor, only removing the uncomfortable parts.
    5. They both are, which makes for some memorable tickle fights when they’re both feeling silly.
