I don’t think that the gear gap will be so great this time around. A very large factor in the creation of the pre- and post- Burning Crusade itemization rift was due to the way Stamina was re-evaluated in terms of item budgeting. A similar scenario occurring with Wrath of the Lich King seems much less likely.

@Tarq – Thankfully, I’ve not seen this attitude in any main TRI raiders recently. It’s more something I’ve picked up in other places or heard people talking about in forums.

Still peeves me, but not quite as close to home And yes. Killing the hell out of Illidan is rather my goal right now too – and I think we can do it, if we can get out of our attendance slump.

Also… the phrase “level 80″ makes my brain a little gooshy still.

@Jager – I really hope so about Blizzard learning their lesson about the gear spike. All three of my characters are at least partially in Tier 4, and I’d like to see that last longer than the 10/20 man gear lasted into Burning Crusade.

For me, raiding is as much/more about people and exploration than it is about gear. Admittedly, that may partially be because I play classes that have weird specs/specs that rely on badge gear a lot instead of tier 5 (resto shaman, smite priest, survival hunter.)

Luckily my guild hasn’t fallen into the why bother attitude. I would rather head out to Northrend in the best gear I possibly can. I personally think Blizzard learned their lesson from the gear spike from BC. I am sure that Tier 5 to Tier 6 stuff will last longer than the Tier 1 and Tier 2 stuff did in BC.

Will the uber gear last forever…no. will there be better “blue” gear at lvl 75…yeah, but you still need to have fun and still need to keep that raid group gelling like magelian to make the move to the next tier. I am finding raiding is just as much about people as it is gear.

I’d be amazed if just the Alpha leaks were making anyone in the raid think about dropping out and waiting on Wrath. Sure as hell not gonna get those people a level 80 raid slot, tell you that much.

Personally, I’m killing the hell out of Illidan. Once we do that I’ll consider how much time there is to do Sunwell before release (I expect a pretty significant stretch); otherwise, I’ll be raiding and recruiting as much as necessary. Glad to hear yuo’re along for the ride.
