It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

So I’m sure you’ve all seen the announcements of new this and spiffy that and this-just-in the other, along with leaked info and questionable sources.

What does that mean for Too Many Annas?

Not much.

I’m certainly reading this new information, and it’s definitely exciting to watch. There’s nothing like new stuff to get me re-motivated about the game. Aelflaed, Berylla and Laisrean will likely see some play-time during the days I’m off this week, since I’m itching to play alts again.

But, as always, that information isn’t even Beta information, and there are a lot of smart, capable people that are analyzing it and posting it in other places. So Too Many Annas will continue for now, uninterrupted by information that’s questionable at best, and very likely to change. As we get closer to

Also, I’m harboring some minor resentment towards all this hoopla about the new expansion, not because I’m not *really* looking forward to getting back to Azeroth and the lore that I’ve come to know and love… but because I’m starting to see more and more people dropping out of what’s going on *now* in anticipation of what’s coming later this year. TRI is *thisclose* to breaking into tier 6 content – and I’m not ready to give up on that yet.

Maybe my gear will get replaced in 2 weeks (though I doubt it, I used my tier1 gear all the way up to level 68 on my hunter). So what? Does that mean I wasted the time I spent with friends, working as a group, trying to do things that require coordination and effort? Of course not.

So here’s to the time left before the next expansion – for what we can make of it, and what we can get done. And here’s to the excitement of new things coming.

  1. I’d be amazed if just the Alpha leaks were making anyone in the raid think about dropping out and waiting on Wrath. Sure as hell not gonna get those people a level 80 raid slot, tell you that much.

Personally, I’m killing the hell out of Illidan. Once we do that I’ll consider how much time there is to do Sunwell before release (I expect a pretty significant stretch); otherwise, I’ll be raiding and recruiting as much as necessary. Glad to hear yuo’re along for the ride. 🙂

  2. Luckily my guild hasn’t fallen into the why bother attitude. I would rather head out to Northrend in the best gear I possibly can. I personally think Blizzard learned their lesson from the gear spike from BC. I am sure that Tier 5 to Tier 6 stuff will last longer than the Tier 1 and Tier 2 stuff did in BC.

Will the uber gear last forever…no. will there be better “blue” gear at lvl 75…yeah, but you still need to have fun and still need to keep that raid group gelling like magelian to make the move to the next tier. I am finding raiding is just as much about people as it is gear.

  3. @Tarq – Thankfully, I’ve not seen this attitude in any main TRI raiders recently. It’s more something I’ve picked up in other places or heard people talking about in forums.

Still peeves me, but not quite as close to home 🙂 And yes. Killing the hell out of Illidan is rather my goal right now too – and I think we can do it, if we can get out of our attendance slump.

Also… the phrase “level 80” makes my brain a little gooshy still. 😀

@Jager – I really hope so about Blizzard learning their lesson about the gear spike. All three of my characters are at least partially in Tier 4, and I’d like to see that last longer than the 10/20 man gear lasted into Burning Crusade.

For me, raiding is as much/more about people and exploration than it is about gear. Admittedly, that may partially be because I play classes that have weird specs/specs that rely on badge gear a lot instead of tier 5 (resto shaman, smite priest, survival hunter.)

  4. I don’t think that the gear gap will be so great this time around. A very large factor in the creation of the pre- and post- Burning Crusade itemization rift was due to the way Stamina was re-evaluated in terms of item budgeting. A similar scenario occurring with Wrath of the Lich King seems much less likely.
