Bad things are happening in Stormwind – and beyond.

The Hand of Lothar, they call themselves.

Yva Darrows was their first target.

Tirith and Aely were their second and third.

They have since… expanded their reach and escalated their methods …

Every new beginning is some other beginning’s end

As is the case with many things right now, this week marks the beginning of a new era for Totally Raids – our first official “not raiding” week pre Northrend.  Or at least, our first official “not progression” week – raids aren’t stopping, but progression in Black Temple is at a halt.

I’m a little sad, but also a little excited.  When I entered The Dark Portal for the first time, the raid I’d previously been a part of had utterly disintegrated – slowly, over the course of many weeks.  It was a rather painful death, and soured me to the new expansion content (and the character that was my main at the time as well).

This time we’ve ended on a high note – called it off before we had to cancel raids because of no-shows or spend nights on old content teaching random subs the fights we’d previously had on farm.  The TRI leadership is tired of wrangling rosters (and two of them have incoming babies in the next few weeks!) and people were getting tired in general.  It takes a lot of guts to call it when you’re ahead, and I have a ton of respect for the leaders of TRI that got together this week to hash all that out.

So last week, after a quick look at Theoden’s speech on the edge of the Battle of Pelennor Fields, we took to Black Temple with the intention of showing just what we, as a group, are made of.  Totally Raids – a roleplay friendly, casual raid – working just 7 hours a week – on what would end up being our final hurrah in The Burning Crusade!

It was exciting – and remarkably successful.

After four attempts we took down Teron Gorefiend – rather fitting to take out the first Deathknight on the eve of the expansion where they become playable characters.

And so we move on from here – learning new things, planning 10 man groups, and running silly “retro-raids” to Molten Core and potentially Blackwing Lair, and getting ready for all that is to come with Northrend.  It’s fun – though not quite the same as when we were hot on the progression trail.

I will say, though, I’m still a little amazed that I got to see as much content in The Burning Crusade as I did.  Puttering through learning Gruul’s Lair seems like so much more than just a year ago, but here we’ve cleared SSC and TK, made fair shots at Archimonde, and pushed past the “crunch” that is Gorefiend in Black Temple.

All in all, I call that a roaring success.  *salute*

  2. Cass – but… you’re very obviously there, and naked, and dancing – right in the middle of the shot!

  3. Well, I saw that… I guess the emphasis should have been on the ‘more’ part of that statement. *glares at the other mages*
