@Poco-Skywall

Adding the Worgen as a playable race seems to be a good opportunity to develop their culture more fully, then, doesn't it? I mean, at least they've been previously established and don't required a GINOURMOUS retcon to crowbar them into the existing lore like some recent additions I could mention.

Anna, I'm with you re: Goblins and Worgen. "Stupid" is a good enough reason to me. On the other hand, I would like to see High Elves as a playable race. (No, I don't want to hear the "we already have two kinds of elves"argument, because my answer to that is, "So what?")

Hey Anna,

I'd like to see more than "they are stupid."

What's your reasoning?

I never understood the fascination with Worgens either. Their involvement in WoW lore is very limited and largely self-contained. The Duskwood quests felt like reading C-grade cross-over fan fiction. The Scythe of Elune quests were a huge let down and are not revisited by... anything, ever (in fact, Elune is never again associated with scythes as far as I know). Even the Grizzly Hills quests felt like they were left unfinished ("Oh dear, we're dealing with werewolves here? Well, jolly good, why don't you lass fetch me that do-hickey from the mine?")

Overall, they feel like a bad joke from the devs when they thought "hey, lycanthropy is cool -- Let's put in some werewolves!" Moreover, animorphic races feel cheap to me. Taurens are well done as a race, with their take on First Nation-esque culture and pacifist / naturalist philosophy. Worgens have no culture, no personality, no values, and no real motivations to speak of. They are, as far as I'm concerned, non-canonical; their presence or absence in no way affects any canonical events aside from the ones that feature them exclusively.

With Goblin, at least, I feel more attached to. They're bloody everywhere in the game already. I can see interesting cross-faction potential, if Bliz would abandon that old hat. At the very least, the engineering rivalry between goblins and gnomes touches a special place in my heart ^^ Still, from game play stand point, I don't want to see any new races. They add an inconsequential frill to a dimension of the game that few ppl care about. Nobody wants the need to reroll their human mage or dwarf pally or nelf hunter for a goblin one because of a unique +5 Do-Thing-a-ma-jigger bonus; nobody wants to read more whining about Will of the Forsaken / Perception / Cow stun. The only silver lining I can see is if goblins leads Bliz to doing something to facilitate cross-faction activities / communication / RP. I can see a lot of potential there, but I distinctly remember Bliz wanting to promote Alliance-Horde hostilities (as pointless as it strikes me, from an RP point of view; and as exasperating as I find it, as a PVP-adverse player).
