This week marked my return to raiding after a week absence due to moving and other shenanigans. I suppose it’s not that odd, after having not logged in hardly at all in the month of March, that I find my gears a little sluggish and my responses a little hesitant. Not that my healing abilities are diminished, or that I’ve “forgotten” – but that it took me quite awhile Thursday night to find my “groove” again.
To find that balance between throughput and overheal, between mana sustainability and mana expenditure, between the life of the tank and my own survival – the essential balance that every healer juggles at some level (though usually subconsciously once we get used to it). All that came back to the forefront after taking awhile off from doing anything at all in WoW.
Even though last week was the only pair of raids I’ve missed, we’ve not been able to push to the edges of our ability due to other roster issues, so it’s been easy to coast. This week? Not so much, and the stress felt rather unusual – and it was harder to deal with than usual, though it likely didn’t help that we had a number of problems with random deaths that were precipitated by people standing in stuff.
Still, it was a good week, and I’m feeling much more like myself as a healer. And looking forward to having a day off to goof around and play video games again! While I love all the work we’ve done on the house, it’s also quite draining.

Every Friday here at Too Many Annas, you’ll find a little RP prompting – either in the form of 5 questions to answer about your character or in the form of a ficlet prompt (500 words) to write about them. These aren’t meant to be hard, just things to think about for your character – you can answer in a comment or use them as a blog post of your own!
It’s been brought to my attention that, if you don’t count recaps, reverses, and best of weeks – I have posted 95 Friday Five questions (and two Friday 500 prompts). Which makes this week include my 100th Friday Five question. Quite a lot more than I expected to have when I started this whole experiment.
Inspired by a comment from Likam yesterday – questions about individual parts of your character (remember, short answers are fine, and mind your Mary Sues).
- What color are your character’s eyes?
- What is your character’s skin like? Does he or she have freckles, tattoos, or other noticeable markings?
- How does your character smile?
- How does your character carry him or herself when walking around? What is his or her posture like?
- Describe your character’s hands.

And I can’t bring myself to come up with anything to post – largely because I’ve not logged in since … two weeks ago? I didn’t get to even raid last week because of the (expletive deleted) phone company.
SO! I hereby ask that you send me comments with fun and entertaining WoW stories to brighten my inbox as I attempt to dig my way out of the box-castle I seem to be developing. I will try to keep an eye on my inbox so I can reply to them (and if they are awesome, maybe they’ll even inspire the Friday Five tomorrow!).

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
The moving truck will be here Tuesday morning at 9, and following that and unpacking, things will (hopefully) return somewhat to normal, though it’ll probably be Thursday before I post here again.
If all goes according to plan today, with a few finishing touches and the rest of the packing, we’ll have redone the master bedroom, master bathroom, kitchen, and office of the new house, as well as some touches in the entryway and guest bath – all in less than three weeks. Of course, none of this was major construction, but it did involve a lot of wallpaper removal, learning how to do plaster/stucco texturing, and a whole heck of a lot of primer, paint, and random trips to Home Thing. Also, something like 85 cabinet pulls. Good grief but there are a lot of drawers/cabinets in my kitchen!
It’s been a crazy long haul, and I thank all of you who are still around to be reading this – I know things have been incredibly sparse since this whole house thing started! I promise, the end is near – or at least a temporary sort of end (we’re not going to be “done” with the house anytime soon… if ever!) that’ll let life return somewhat to normal again.
So think happy thoughts for me, Mr. Anna, and the two feline fiends on Tuesday, and here’s hoping I get to see you soon!
