It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

So, my little paladin Aelflaed has sat, relatively unattended, since well before all this Sunwell/Shattered Sun business. With three 70’s, I decided I might want to take a stab at getting at least one of them a flying mount (hah), and raiding picked up quite a bit as well.

But there’s no accounting for sparks of inspiration, and for some reason this weekend she’s been at the top of my priority list. As someone who’s hardly done any instances below level 70 recently, Friday afternoon included a Maraudon run for my husband’s warrior, a BRD run that stopped at the Molten Core entrance (with two level 70’s, a 57 paladin… and two level 47 loot-soakers), and then a smash and grab through Blood Furnace.

It’s somewhat difficult to get to Blood Furnace at level 57, I will admit.

But, as with all my characters, the Loot Fu seems to speak loudly, or not at all. Aelflaed leveled full retribution until around level 50, when I switched her to a prot/ret hybrid (1H dps, vengeance/reckoning build) since she was doing a fair amount of tanking. I’ve always kept a healing set around, because – well – that’s how I roll with hybrids. I’d rather heal an instance than not go, even if it’s not my primary choice of spec.

And in that one day, between some 2g blues I picked up on the auction house and what dropped in Blood Furnace, I’ve picked up nearly an entire set of healing gear. May I mention that *every* boss in Blood Furnace dropped healing or spelldamage gear?

Grah! I do like healing with the paladin, as it’s not nearly as complicated as healing with the priest, but the priest has more cool toys. And, honestly, do I really need another level 70 healer?

But I am ahead of myself a bit. I’m going to finish up Azeroth – still need to do Western Plaguelands and Silithus before I head out to Hellfire, since I know those areas well, know they have a fair amount of XP, and know that Hellfire can be *murder* on an undergeared level 58. Given that Aelflaed is rather accident prone (both from an RP standpoint and because that’s just how her journey through Azeroth has been), I’ll let her get I’m hoping to get that cranked out today and tomorrow.

And then – Outland – round 4!

*Note: Normally, I’d grace this post with a picture of Aelflaed in all her redheaded glory. However, her recent gear additions include purple thong-plate pants, a black chestpiece, blue shoulders, pale blue boots, a green mace, a red and white shield, and bright red and gold gloves. She looks like a reject from the Bozo The Clown School of Fashion Design. For such an armor-conscious thing as she is, she couldn’t bear the thought of a current screenshot, and has asked me to let her leave the mudstains alone until she can get something that matches a bit better.

  1. Oh, and welcome to Cowbell!

  2. I hear you on the loot-fu thing. It seems all my recently levelled to 70 druid Seph has seen drop in instances/Kara is healy gear even though she is feral build heh. Yay for playing a hybrid class though – I absolutely love the flexibility after playing a straight out DPSer in Jez.
