It didn’t take long to get from Thunder Bluff to the Echo Isles – Ankona took advantage of a wyvern so she could think and plan before getting to her destination. She had information to confirm with the spirits – was Gromnor dead? Was he really in the northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, somewhere […]

Matt’s Friday Five – Character Progress
comment 3 Written by on January 9, 2009 – 9:58 am

This is a guest post from Matticus of World of Matticus where he offers a Friday Five of his own!

When I loaded up Too Many Annas and read last Friday’s post, I was shocked.

A friday? Without a Friday Five? That’s like Batman without Robin. Rocky without Bullwinkle. Sylvester without Tweety. You get the idea.

Right away I knew I had to fix this injustice! So I came up with a five of my own! We’ll let Anna have her fun with her new toy.

Here are five questions to think about with your character and some meta questions on roleplay – they can be answered here as comments, turned into a blog post of your own, or just something to think about while you grind away leveling over the weekend.  This week we’re doing nothing but looking ahead.

You’ll find something like this every Friday here at Too Many Annas.

  1. Last week, you state your New Year’s resolution for 2009. How do you plan on achieving your resolution?
  2. There is always a character defining moment that happens every year. For example, Mallet defied all odds and managed to take down Kil’Jaden but losing a precious Enhancement Shaman friend to the Twisting Nether as the cost. What event (tragedy or otherwise) do you foresee your character going through?
  3. Like it or not, we’re all materialistic at heart. What is the one thing you plan on getting in the months ahead?
  4. In times of hardship, it’s necessary for characters to diversify themselves in their skills. What sort of occupations would your characters involve themselves in (they don’t have to be actual professions)?
  5. But hard work shouldn’t have to be backbreaking all the time. Your character needs to have fun once in a while. What hobbies would your character pick up?

  1. One resolution was to be one of the early explorers into Ulduar. Mallet needs to be prepared for such expeditions. Information is key. This means scouring through maps, archives, tomes, libraries and everything possible to find out what lies within.
  2. Mallet will experience a near career-ending injury preventing him from participating actively in raiding expeditions.
  3. A dagger. Staves are nice and excellent for close combat. But there are some areas where using a staff becomes too cumbersome.
  4. Called to the Stormwind bar association. There are still criminals out there that need to be prosecuted.
  5. Different card games. After a long day, it’s nice to sit at a tavern with a few friends and do nothing but play cards. But he has to learn how to first.

Annas here – Matt sent me these but I didn’t get them  up last week, so I’m using them this week because they’re great questions!  Hope you enjoy them!

  1. 1. Being something of a fatalist, Khol’s resolutions tend to revolve around simple things, like surviving another year.

    2. Well, according to Future Khol, he’ll start drinking heavily, but Future Khol was kind of a dick, so Khol isn’t so sure he believes him. Whatever does happen, it’ll probably be the last thing he expects.

    3. Khol’s got his eyes on that Valorous Bonescythe set…it’s pretty sexy.

    4. With the small fortune Khol’s built up from stealing things, he could live somewhat comfortably for a time, if he had to. That would be the last resort, however, since the money is how he keeps score. Going back to SI:7 would be likely, though that would only happen if the independent security consultancy firm didn’t pan out.

    5. Khol always has his books. Finding and collecting strange tomes has always been a fascination of his. He also has this strange fascination with fishing.

  2. 1) Dorri is already involved in a group that is seeking to thwart Malygos. So that’s already in place. In fact, she figures they were exposed to enough of his arcane insanity that she can risk appearing in Dalaran as less of a robot and more of herself.

    2) I really don’t know right now. I have plans and schemes underway, but since there is more than just my mind and my characters.

    3) Another dragon, but there isn’t much else.

    4) Dorri is actually a gem cutter and an enchanter. She’s also a sculptor.

    5) As I mentioned above, Dorri is a sculptor. She’s been learning to do scrimshaw from the walrus people and has always liked working with stones. She’s also something of an sketcher, though her carvings are always better than her sketches. Though Keltyr is probably the only person who knows that she draws.

    1) Des and Then are working on marriage vows and the fiancé is supposed to be picking out spots for the wedding.

    2) I know of at least one thing that is going to happen to Then, but I am not telling because that wouldn’t be any fun.

    3) Then wants a place of their own. Even if it is only an apartment. She’s tired of always having to accommodate a innkeeper.

    4) Then’s an herbalist. She knows how to use packets of herbs for basic remedies, but not much more. She is fairly good at finding wild herbs and drying them for use by others though.

    5) The prickly priestess has decided that she wanted to start growing things. Destril got her a lot of things for Winter’s Veil and she’s been putting them to good use.
