The morning of the all hands summon to the Blasted Lands, Aely went for a walk. The late fall air was clear and cool, and leaves crunched under their feet in the less-traveled parts of the streets. She and Roger took the long way around Old Town, south through Tanner Circle and down Bulwarks, across […]

Introducing the Newest Anna

So I’m not really in a position where I should be creating alts. This, of course, does nothing to deter me from making alts when the inspiration strikes. I’ve been really enjoying my Alliance hunter, and she’s my raiding main right now, so I thought … what about a Horde hunter? They’re fun to level, easy to work with, I know the class…

And then I upgraded both my accounts to preorder for Warlords, and realized I’d have an auto-90 for my second account. Which has only low level Horde characters on it. (My primary account auto-90 went to Annorah, my Shaman, and I used one for Ankona as well, because I’m a lazy bum, and because auto professions and auto flying was worth it.)

So it’s time to introduce the newest Anna. She’s… well, she’s a bit tongue in cheek.

Meet Andaka Wolfrunner, Orc Hunter. And Ammo, her favorite wolf pet.

She uses a bow right now, but that’s because that’s the heirloom weapon I already have. I’ll be looking for a proper gun for her at endgame.

I go back and forth about her name. As it is, it’s funny, but it also doesn’t look too far off from something that could be a proper Orc name. And she’s got a prebuilt set of pet names now – Colt, Winchester, etc. I’m looking forward to getting to tame a corehound and naming it something to do with flamethrowers. She is, of course, beast mastery, since that’s the spec I know best and it’s good for soloing/leveling. I doubt she’ll ever be a raiding character (unless I somehow get a new job where I’m not commuting 12+ hours a week), so I don’t really have to worry about optimization.

Of course, I want the auto-professions for her too, and I have a full set of mail heirlooms, so I’m leveling her to 60 before I buy the boost to 90 for her. It’s going fairly quickly – she’s level 53 already. She’s an alchemist, because that’s a useful profession to have, and a fairly straightforward one to keep leveled. I’ve always been glad I had a max level alchemist Alliance side, even when I’m not raiding with her (Aely), so I think it’ll be nice to have that same synergy Hordeside. Ankona is a scribe, which is only somewhat useful, but at least I know I’ll always have access to good shoulder enchants, and both characters can farm the needed herbs for stuff.

She’s been a lot of fun so far, and it just feels right to have an Orc-Anna back in the lineup. (It’s been a long time since my Shaman. In fact, it’s been almost a decade since I was an Orc Shaman…which is a bit scary to think about actually.)

How much time I’ll have to play her remains to be seen, but that’s why she’s an alt. There for when I have time or stories to tell, but not someone I have to worry about keeping up with a raid.

Now all that remains is for me to get a good story going about her, but I’m hoping that I can get some RP to help me define her personality. (Right now she mostly exists as “I shoot stuff, and it dies” which is a nice sentiment, but a little lacking in depth.) Perhaps now that she’s activated on Feathermap, I’ll have more opportunities for her to have conversations and develop her story a bit. And who knows, with the story in Warlords of Draenor, maybe I’ll have some hooks into the official WoW story I can use for her!
