Yeah – I’m just really *really* pressed for online time that isn’t raiding. I raid Wednesday through Sunday evenings on various characters, and Mondays I’m nearly always doing RL stuff.

Though I’m off work for summer (yay school district), so I may try be able to pick up the beastlord stuff during the day.

As it were, I’m survival because I really like the playstyle. I like beastmastery as well, and I’ve done all three hunter specs, but survival is just fun for me. If I were to switch, I’d go back to beastmastery (but Angoleth will likely never be marksman specced again, for RP reasons)

I’ve got myself a level 70 kal’dorei huntress all decked out in shiny purple epics and I still carry at least two pieces of my Beastlord set at all times. We’ve had raids in Tempest Keep where we were horrendously low on either rogues or mages before and so we relied heavily on traps to keep mobs occupied while we burned down other targets. While we had four hunters at the time and so could manage a trap rotation (we three huntresses did it without prompting or discusson, which I always thought was cool!), having that couple of extra seconds helped immensely.

Concerning Survival, I go back and forth on that matter. If you find that it helps you significantly as you try to get a grip on some of the more basic roles of a hunter, then it’s a wonderful thing. You can, however, trap successfully and repeatedly as anything other than Survival — even in heroics!

I would probably still advise getting two pieces of Beastlord for the trapping set bonus. I know my girlfriend (SSC / TK gear) sometimes pops them on to trap with if she needs to, minus four seconds on your cooldown is not to be sniffed at.

I miss my hunter. Unfortunately, I no longer have any space on FM for another character, and I don’t feel like playing on the RP-PvP server that my hunter is currently confined to. =(

Despite that, though, I can still check off numbers 6, 4, and 2. =)

Also, if you’re still looking for an arena team come July, let me know. I’d be happy to help out, if I can. Although, I don’t know if a Holy Paladin who is neither specced nor geared for PvP would be of any use whatsoever.
