"Riptide has the single best animation in the Shaman arsenal, with the new chain lightning coming in a close second. It’s a “we just won the superbowl, Gatorade-Dump” kind of thing. I love it."

I completely agree. I love that animation (and sound!) so much. The first raid we did post-patch, I described it over vent as a shaman dumping a bucket of water of the tank's head. I got random whispers from raid members for the next few minutes with requests to have Riptide cast on them so they could see! So much fun!

I've considered doing the NaNoWriMo also. I figure I would have to write every day to meet the goal but I'm not sure I want to put that much effort into it.

I do want to write more, however. So, maybe I'll use NaNoWriMo as a goad to write more often. It seems to be working, as I managed to write a short story tonight.

@Cynra - Having dedicated GMs who understand and respect RPing would be great. I wonder how many of asking for it would prompt a change? My fear is, push come to shove, how many would be willing to put their money where their mouth is, that is, cancel their subscription? I don't know if I would.

Anna, feel your pain. It's horrible. I still argue that the way to fix the problem is to have dedicated GMs on each server that are in tune with the community's expectations. I've had GMs who have understood the plight of roleplayers and try to help, only to run into ones who ask me if my complain is even a valid one -- and this was in response to people ridiculing, bad-mouthing, and interrupting roleplaying while using the lewdest kind of speech.

Rant aside, I've been contemplating NaNoWriMo myself. I'm not much of a writer, but I have so many stories in my head that it's almost crazy. I go back and forth with the idea.

And, finally, regarding achievements, if you kept loot or finished quests dealing with the last bosses of those instances, you got credit. It was the only way to confirm it. As a roleplayer, I managed to keep a lot of pieces of armor for roleplaying purposes, so I managed to get a lot of credit. Cut down on the need to run some instances.

Veneretio: The helm needed is actually the Hallowed Helm and not The Horseman's Helm. Gently remind anyone who says anything else that he's an idiot and that he needs to learn to read. That way, the helm will actually go to a class that can use it.

@teh Khol Abides:

I would - but I don't have even the faintest hint of an idea. And I've found that if I'm going to sit down and write, sitting staring at a screen with no idea what to put down isn't the most prudent use of my time, nor is it good for my mental state. (And I'll admit to having a bit of a mental block, after having been told to stick to nonfiction and poetry, as my ability/inability to write plot doomed every fiction piece I've ever tried)

Is the ning group the same one that Bre over at Gun'LOvin Dwarf Chick is using? I know she was talking about one.

13. NaNoWriMo - Like the ads say, just do it. Ego has created a ning group for those of us participating this year. If you get stuck, you can always ask for help.
