Squire Benjamin William Sullivan stood in the middle of Light’s Hope Chapel in his underpants.

Actually, it was white linen pants and a shift, but the effect was approximately the same. The little chapel was warm, on the edge of …

Friday Five – Skills to pay the Bills
comment 9 Written by on November 28, 2008 – 3:04 pm

Here are five questions to think about with your character – they can be answered here as comments, turned into a blog post of your own, or just something to think about while you grind away leveling over the weekend.  This week we’re tackling skills and abilities.

You’ll find something like this every Friday here at Too Many Annas – and usually my answers are under the “read more” tag (but since I’m posting this from out of town, no answers from me this week <sadface>).

  1. What’s one thing that your character is really good at?
  2. And one thing that he or she is just really *bad* at?
  3. What’s a skill that your character wishes that they have or are learning?
  4. What is one thing that makes your character weak?  Do they have a weakness?
  5. What would your character’s favorite Thanksgiving dish be?

(OK – one answer I guess.  Aely loves pie.  mmm.  pie.  Annorah probably would like something weird, like mashed turnips.  Angoleth would be the one picking at the turkey before it was carved, and Annalira is a fan of anything bread.)

  1. 1. Threnn is an excellent swordsmith. Too bad there are very few swords she can make to aid in her healing. She remains hopeful, though.

    2. Cooking. Baaaad idea. Thank god Bricu loves to cook.

    3. She’s learning how to knit. It’s not going so well.

    4. It’s more a fear than a weakness, but she’s always been afraid of spiders. It has its downsides.

    5. Were she awake for it, it would definitely be the dessert part of dinner. Do they have French Silk Pie in Azeroth? Because, like Aely, mmmm, pie.

  2. 1. What’s one thing that your character is really good at?

Well, leadership, killing enemies, organizing, diplomacy, being powerful, being evil and math to name just one thing.

    2. And one thing that he or she is just really *bad* at?

Actually I am totally bad even though I would prefer the word ‘evil’…

    3. What’s a skill that your character wishes that they have or are learning?

    We want flying

    4. What is one thing that makes your character weak? Do they have a weakness?

    No weaknesses.

    5. What would your character’s favorite Thanksgiving dish be?

    Homefried dragon

  3. 1. Mac’s a melee weapon master (well, as much as game mechanics let pallies be). Hes familiar with every weapon he picks up and knows how to use them effectively. IN game this is reflected by needing to get all his weapon skills maxed as quickly as possible.

    2. Mac’s a terrible marksman. I always wished there was a way play this out in game. He probably couldnt hit the broadside of a barnfrom 10 paces. Buggered if I know how he tosses that shield so well. A big chunk of his backstory is the “failed hunter” thing.

    3. See above.

    4. He mean well, but he tends to be self-righteous and a little condescending – trying help others even if they dont need or want it.

    5. Beer. And a pig on a spit. And Beer.

  4. Here’s a try. Sydera doesn’t have that much of a personality, but here’s my guesses

    1. Syd is very good at talking to people, and she’s very compassionate. That’s why she heals for a living–she doesn’t like to see hurt people/critters/what have you suffering.

    2. Syd can’t multitask. At all. Even trying causes her leaves to fall out! She can heal, or dps, but she won’t do both on the same day. She also can’t do dailies and have a decent conversation.

    3. Biggest weakness? Gullible. She’ll believe any dumb thing you tell her–that big dragon is friendly? Cool. Also, she’d probably follow her tank right off a cliff.

    4. The only food on a typical Thanksgiving table Syd will even eat is the salad. She’s a very picky druid, and she tends to stick to fruits, veggies, and fish. I suppose at such occasions she switches into cat form–somehow she enjoys turkey better that way.

  5. Since Dorri’tow has become my main, I’ll answer these using her

1)What’s one thing that your character is really good at?

    Dorri is good at killing.

    2) And one thing that he or she is just really *bad* at?

I would say just being polite, but having forced to pretend she’s a wind-up toy lately has improved that.

I’d have to say being able to make her own decisions. that is something she is working on.

    3) What’s a skill that your character wishes that they have or are learning?

Dorri still wishes she had talent in magic. But right now she’s enjoying gem-crafting.

    4) What is one thing that makes your character weak? Do they have a weakness?

Dorri’s temper has always been her weakness. She tends to get angry when frustrated. She is frustrated a lot. And her first thought is to use her fists or her blade, whichever is available.

5)What would your character’s favorite Thanksgiving dish be?

    Keltyr?

What? you were expecting another answer?

  6. @Itanya Blade:

Aaaahahahaha. Well, I suppose Phileas would’ve been on Aely’s list too, but she really does like pie. Just don’t tell Skyborne.

  7. @Sydera: So wait – she’s a compassionate druid with a health food streak who is relatively gullible and has a one-track mind.

Sounds like she has plenty of personality!

  8. 1. Frijona’s great at sucking out the soul of an evil being and putting it to better use.

    2. Cooking! Do not let that girl anywhere near a stove.

    3. Realizing that the world does not revolve around her and the things she thinks is important. She’s working on it just by being around other people more and having to deal with their personalities.

    4. Self-centeredness has always been a problem for her, and also technology. She’s really afraid of the stuff!

    5. Fri might take a tiny bite of cranberry sauce, but then she’d have to leave, because watching everyone else eat would really start to get to her.
