Introducing: Just Ask Anna!
One of the things I enjoy most about this blog and its readers is the interaction I get. I love emails where people ask for help with a problem (of whatever kind), and I enjoy being able to help them (or just put our minds together and rattle a problem back and forth a bit).
So, in that light, I’d like to start a new regular feature – something like what you saw yesterday and a few times in the past, where I tackle a reader submitted question (WoW related please, I’m no love-life guru!) as a blog post.
If you have questions, there are a few ways to submit them. You can:
- Use the Contact Form
- Email me (toomanyannas at gmail dot com)
- Send me a message on twitter
- Find me on AIM at toomanyannas
- Leave a comment on this post
Creative and silly questions are as welcome as thoughtful or hard ones, and I retain the right to veto questions (of course!). So send’em in, and I’ll do my best to tackle them here where we can all benefit. If I end up swamped, I’ll let you guys know, but hopefully a plethora of questions will let me choose a few that are the most relevant and save others for another time.
And you never know – asking a question in character might just get you an in character response. Just hope it’s not Anaelle that answers that day. She’s batshit.

Anaelle is… well, she’s not really /bad/ crazy? but she’s definitely her own personal brand of looneybin.
I have a question. I have been really enjoying the stories you post about your pally, especially the Flashbacks to Childhood, and they make me think quite a bit about my BE priest since she was also in Loderan quite a bit before the Scourge (although obviously with very different experiences). Anyway, I’ve been working on the backstory for a human I’ve been wanting to roll, and so started looking into Human history etc. more indepth, when I realized that the in game humans are specifically meant to be from the Stormwind kingdom. This got me thinking, that a character from Loderan is kind of not playing in the intended scope. It seems perfectly alright with me that someone would choose to be a human refugee from any of the human kingdoms, as physically and culturally they seem quite similar.
Is there a place to draw the line, or is it even appropriate to draw a line at what sort of back story is feasible for a character in WoW? Do people ever mention this discrepency in your character’s (Aely’s) intended origins (by Blizzard) and that which you’ve chosen? Would it be acceptible to play an orc with the back story of being one of the Mag’har? Or a former cannibal troll, not of the Darkspear tribe? Maybe a Wildhammer dwarf?
I don’t think there is a real ‘right’ answer to this, but I’m curious as to your thoughts. Playing a human from Loderan seems just fine to me, but for some reason, a Mag’har orc or a non-Darkspear troll seem much less ‘acceptable’ or maybe out of the bounds of the characters as intended by the game.
Erm, so rambley question, hope it makes sense. Really enjoy your blog
Occasionally, I keep thinking about restarting the Ask Bricu feature I used to do on the feathermoon forums. Then i remember how i used to do “ask a bastard” on my own blog…
If only I had readers like Anna!
