I especially agree that now may in fact be a great time to start asking raid groups if you can come along. My guild, for instance, is a relatively (10/12) progressed 10 man guild who's suddenly having more trouble filling out raids. Not only would we love to have someone help get the raid off the ground, but we're also always on the lookout for people who mesh well with the guild as potential recruits. Even if you're not interested in joining the guild now, your circumstances might change down the road, and it's good for both of us if you have a good fallback plan. All good points.
